About this Project
This website was created as part of my doctoral research to bring together dispersed information on the “breadloaf idols” / “enigmatic tablets.” During my study period, I found no unified, researcher-friendly tool to view and compare items, so I built one.
Important Source & Credit Notice
- I did not author the original content. Images, descriptions, dates, and metadata are compiled from external persons, such as Linde Lennart from the Archäologisches Museum Frankfurt, external sources such as the Museo Archeologico dell'Alto Mantovano, the Tavolette Enigmatiche catalogues, published papers, theses, and existing datasets.
- Where possible, each item includes a Reference/Description. Please cite and credit the original sources when reusing material from this site.
- This is a non-commercial, academic resource intended for research/teaching. If a credit is missing or incorrect, contact me and I will update the attribution.
What You Can Do
📂 Data Table
Upload and merge JSON datasets, then explore or edit entries in an editable table. Changes are stored locally in your browser (non-destructive).
📊 Statistics
View grouped counts and detailed breakdowns (e.g., by country, provenance, or dating phase).
📈 Graphs
Generate clear, interactive charts to reveal patterns in the dataset.
🗺️ Maps
Explore geographic provenance through an interactive map. Best for spotting regional clustering.
📜 Facts
Collect structured notes and facts extracted from videos, papers, and related sources, with references.
📚 References
Organize your bibliography in APA style and import/export from BibTeX, TXT, or JSON.
How the Pages Differ
Data Table vs. Statistics
Data Table is for item-level inspection and editing (row by row). Statistics aggregates across the dataset—e.g., counts per country or phase.
Graphs vs. Maps
Graphs are for trends and distributions over variables; Maps are for spatial patterns (provenance, site clustering).
Facts vs. References
Facts holds curated notes extracted from materials; References is the bibliographic manager (APA, BibTeX, JSON).
Provenance & Dating
Where available, items include provenance (site, region, country) and dating phases. Always verify against the original source before publication.
Attribution & Affiliations
Developed by a PhD student at University of Bielefeld in collaboration with Honda Research Institute Europe (HRI-EU). This site is an academic prototype and does not represent official positions of the University of Bielefeld or HRI-EU.
Please cite original authors and repositories for images, descriptions, and data. If you reuse this tool in academic work, you may reference it as an unpublished research web app and include a link/DOI if you assign one.
